Pouring in Paradise Wailuku, Hawaii
Great news for everyone reading this ... especially for those doing so on a wet Tuesday afternoon while at work. We've made it to Hawaii. Naturally, you're probably not convinced that this is great news for you, but when you hear that it's been absolutely pouring down... I'm sure that will brighten up your day.

We arrived in Maui late as a result of several separate incidents. First and foremost was a "flashing warning light up here in the cockpit." (We will always accept a delay due to the reason of "a flashing warning lights.") However, 15 minutes later, we left the Seattle airport expecting to soon arrive in Hawaii to dazzling sunshine and a glorious tapestry of tropical flowers. (The slight grasp of reality I cling to ensured that I didn't expect to see grass skirt clad hula girls, at least not at the airport.)

Our second delay was due to a holding pattern. Ahhh, we thought... there must be many people trying to land in this fabulous, tropical paradise. The captain assured us that it was 75 degrees with light showers. No worries,... we could handle the 30 minute holding pattern... we'd be in the land of the warm sun soon enough. Instead what we saw upon arrival was a mighty wall of water . It seemed that the Pacific was trying to reclaim the islands by means of an aerial attack. The headline of the local newspaper pretty much summed it all up with the word... "Deluge."

Still, on the brightside, everyone assured us that this would all blow over and the hostel was hosting a "free beer night." But really, despite the rain, we really can't grumble. It's not as if we are on an annual holiday as it will be for many folk out here. Besides, without rain there would be no rainbows, no lush vegetation, and less appreciation of sunny days which burn Mark anyway! So, there you go.... we're laughing with you at our "plight" too.
