93 Years Young Seattle, WA. USA
It’s not everyday that someone you know turns 93. Especially if that someone is your Grandmother! Before we decided to head out on our around-the-world adventure, we had already booked tickets back to Seattle for Heide’s Grandmother’s 93rd Birthday celebration! Our return to the states for this big family event was one of the main things that shaped the first part of our travel itinerary!

We weren’t the only folks to travel into town for the big day! Heide’s uncle Dale arrived from Chicago and Uncle Phil and Aunt Mary arrived from Missouri. The tradition for Grandma’s birthday is to have a meal out to celebrate… but with so many "out of towners" here… we ended up with a party weekend!

The Big Event this year was held at the House of Hong in China Town in downtown Seattle on February 13th. The "out-of-towners" met Grandma, Heide’s parents, Uncle Tim and Cousin David around mid-afternoon for an early dinner. We were the only group in the restaurant! It was perfect… there was no one to talk over and the service was very attentive! After the meal we all went back to Grandma’s house and enjoyed ice cream for desert. Yum!

But the weekend wasn’t over yet! We managed to squeeze in another dinner with everyone on Saturday night. (Valentines Day!) And on Sunday evening… we enjoyed dinner and a movie with Dale, David, and Heide’s folks.

Now that the weekend is over, we are ready to settle down and do some relaxing here in the beautiful Pacific Northwest.
