Mark woke up sick this morning so our day was cut a bit short. We completed the Ring of Kerry and we have to admit that we were a bit disappointed. All in all, there were only a few stops along the way that had really spectacular views and the towns were very tourist-y. Still, it was a nice drive and we are glad that we did it. We hoped that the Dingle peninsula does not disappoint us further.

We arrived in Dingle town a bit after mid day. Mark wanted to stop for some R&R and was hoping that we could find a place with a bathtub. It was a difficult search but we finally found a beautiful bed and breakfast in town that had a room with a bath. We spent the afternoon sleeping, reading the paper, and relaxing! It was a nice battery recharging day... a true "vacation day!"
We enjoyed a wonderful Irish dinner in the pub. (Although it’s not the BEST cuisine in the world, it’s "home food" for Mark, which is really comforting!) And then headed out to check out the pubs. When we were going out we heard a pub that had GREAT music coming out of it... so, of course, we had to head back there.

Dick Macks pub as great fun... it was fashioned in the motif of an old shoe store. The bar was on one side and the musicians on the other side with about 6 feet of patron space between them! There were definitely a few tourists in the bar (We met some really interesting round-the-world travelers!) but there were also quite a few locals. The musicians were paid in beer and would stop to socialize with the patrons... the barman was having a domestic with his partner... there were some old fisherman folks, a famous book author, and quite a few characters. I enjoyed chatting with the guy who told us about his climb up Kilimanjaro. But, the bar started getting ruckus and Mark said we had to leave.
Fortunately, we found another great place that was showing the Celtic game. We arrived just in time to see Celtic score the goal that would win the game... 1-0! Then we were in for a real treat, a musical group, managed by the guy who wrote the music for Riverdance, played some awesome didily didily! Wonderful! We had a great night and I drank more beer than I ever have before... some 4.5 pints!
