Think of the most quintessentially Italian images that you can. "Animated conversations."  "Laundry lines crossing narrow roads." "Beautifully dressed people complete with Versace sunglasses." "Shops overflowing with inventory -- so much so that it is hanging from the ceiling, stacked on the floor and spilling out into the street." "Pizzarias on every other corner." These are the images of Naples.

This city feels like complete chaos! Cars and mopeds go in every direction. People are everywhere. (Don't they have to work??) Horns are blaring at all hours and buses are rammed with people on the go. The energy of the city is palpable.

Naples is the home of pizza. So, of course, it was the first thing we set out to find when we got here. We ventured out to Pizzaria Trianon last night. According to the locals, it is the best place in Naples to have a pizza! It was devine! Both Mark and I remember a conversation we had with a family member or a friend. It was a couple of years ago and neither of us can remember who it was, but this person was telling us that American pizza is better than Italian pizza. My friend, you are wrong!! Not only is it delicious, but Pizza is an artform here. Watching the chefs was fasinating! The wood fired ovens are so hot, it takes just a few minutes for the pizza to be done.

Tomorrow is a national holiday and all the hotels in Naples are full. Our plan was to take a day trip to Pompei but instead we will take the packs and see if we can find a place to sleep down there.
