Still, it was great fun! It was also our first road trip with our new car (A lovely 2005 Hyundai Accent) and a nice, relaxing get away now that Heide’s back at work! Unfortunately the weather was horrible and the scenery on the drive down was muted by the grey overcast clouds and the sheeting rain. How does it go... “Welcome to the Pacific Northwest?”

And rain didn’t let up once we were in Portland either. So, we didn’t do much sightseeing around Portland. We’d been to Portland before (it’s jut 2 hours from Seattle) and we’re certain that we’ll be there again, so that will leave plenty of time to see the city’s major sites. Instead, we just basked in the luxury of Portland’s Westin hotel which is of a standard about 8 million times above the hotels that we’ve become accustomed to and enjoyed eating out at one of Portland’s lovely eateries! We will be back!
