Fa La La La La... La La La La! Solihull, UK We are just back from Christmas in the UK where we had a wonderful time! Most importantly we had the opportunity to visit with family and get away from "normal life" in Holland! (You wouldn't believe how great it is to hear so much English!!) We flew out of Eindhoven airport on Sunday, December 23rd on Ryan Air. It was our first experience on a "European Budget Airline." It's true that the service is a bit shabby... but since it was a 40 minute flight who cares? The flight was on time and got us to Britain safely. However, we flew from Eindhoven to Stansted.... Birmingham airport or, even, Heathrow would have been better. Paul was nice enough to come down and get us! Cheers Paul! Once back up in Birmingham we stopped at Paul and Jackie's for a cup of Coffee/Tea. It was the first time we had seen their new home... and their Christmas tree was absolutely gorgeous!! Then we headed back to Mark's Mum and Dad's for a (very!) late fish and chip dinner. We had been craving fish and chips for ages, so, it really hit the spot!
The rest of the week was spent with family and friends. We opened our gifts on Christmas Eve when the whole family was there! Then on Christmas day we enjoyed a HUGE Christmas dinner and Eloise, our one and a half year old niece, entertained us with her eating habits and gurgling. She doesn't completely understand Christmas yet, but it was fun to see her play with all of her new toys! (That is, of course, when Mark wasn't playing with them!)
Boxing day was low key as were our extra few days in Britain. We were hoping to take a trip out to York or Stone Henge, but it just didn't happen this time around. Maybe we'll rent a car for our next trip over the channel. We flew back to Eindhoven today, December 28th, and Mark has a day off and two more days of work before we head off to Switzerland!!
